Cardiology 101 for the BLS Provider

Wednesday, April 09

This class is an in-depth refresher for BLS providers regarding cardiology and related prehospital emergencies. It will start with an overview of BLS assessment and patient interview for the patient suffering from a cardiovascular emergency. Next, it will dive into the pathophysiology and BLS management of various emergencies relating to cardiology. These emergencies include tachyarrhythmias, bradyarrhythmias, myocardial infarctions, CHF exacerbations, aortic dissections, and cardiac arrests. Emphasis is on the importance of lifesaving BLS measures and appropriate destinations. The overall goal is to remind BLS providers of their vital role in delivering prehospital care and that there is no scope of knowledge.
