Roadway Incidents - Hazard for Firefighters

Distracted, drowsy, drunk, drugged, and disgruntled drivers are striking firefighters and fire apparatus at roadway incidents with increasing frequency. Fire and EMS personnel must train and operate methodically and professionally at all roadway incidents. Roadways are one of the most dangerous areas for firefighters and EMTs to operate, and personnel must establish and implement a solid defensive strategy during all roadway incident operations. This class will describe successful strategies and tactics for roadway incident operations, emerging technologies that present additional hazards, and some potential solutions for crew safety and survival.
