Real-life Training for Real-Life Tactics

Thursday, April 10

Instructors are responsible for distilling the need-to-know information from the nice-to-know and nuts-to-know information that overwhelms our standard training and saps our time and attention. Why is that so hard? Students will learn to develop training tactics that will most efficiently use the limited training time to maximize their company's, battalion's, or department's operational capacity. They will discuss how to distill and transmit knowledge while creating a scaffold with lesson planning. They will explore the importance of context in training, operations, and leadership. They will use this lens of context to integrate adult learning best practices and Fire Service Research Institute lessons with response needs to develop actionable training plans for aggressive outcomes in the field.
