Operational Responsibility

Tuesday, April 08

This class will discuss our ever changing and dynamic firegrounds, and the efforts, skills, and responsibilities required at all levels on our firegrounds. With our citizens and their property at stake, we must understand the need for all levels on the scene to be in sync and understand fire dynamics, how fires act in buildings, and how each other act during these emergencies. We will look at all ranks and how each must deliver on incidents and how they must communicate to each level above them. We will look at the importance of the company officer on the crew and on the execution of skill sets, along with the incident commander, and how they must work in conjunction with those in the IDLH. We will review fires and the needs of the company officers and ICs to communicate, execute, and operate with a common selfless goal. These actions and communications are the operational responsibility of all of us on the fireground.
