Forcible Entry: The Keys to the Job

Tuesday, April 08

You must gain access to a building quickly at a structure fire to effectively search for victims and locate the fire. You also must drill on basic and advanced forcible entry techniques to gain proficiency. This class has a strong focus on hands-on time and repetitions of forcing inward- and outward-swinging doors with varying degrees of difficulty. Students will rotate through numerous teaching stations including saw operations on roll-down gates and garage doors, forcing real metal commercial doors with slide bolts and drop bars engaged. Students will pull locks, manipulate the mortise commercial lock, and train on many other locks they will face on the fireground.

PPE Required: Lightweight rescue gear or jumpsuit, helmet, gloves, safety toe boots, eye protection, or structural fire gear.
