Expect the Unexpected: Guide to Violent Calls

Wednesday, April 09

The fire dervice is seeing an ever-increasing occurrence of violent events secondary to our EMS/first responder roles. This course will help you identify potential hostile situations from before the tones drop to your return to service. It compares an EMS call size-up to how you would size up a structure fire. It progresses to an interior size-up, understanding body language, how to successfully use de-escalation techniques, and what do if you are involved in a hostage situation or violent event. By the end of the class, participants will have the knowledge base to avoid and respond to a hostile or violent event.
