Brass Tacks & Hard Facts Presents: System to Stream: Standpipe Operations & Specialty Nozzles

Thursday, April 10
Lucas Oil Stadium Drill Yard Booth 9710

High-rise firefighting presents unique challenges in standpipe systems and water application. This hands-on session covers standpipe valves, hookups, and specialty nozzles to ensure efficient water movement from system to stream. Participants will explore valve types, pressure considerations, and nozzle selection, including the floor below nozzle, horizontal void nozzle, and Bresnan cellar nozzle.

The class will also cover improvised standpipes, tactics for difficult exterior cladding fires, and effective flanking techniques. Additionally, we will examine the challenges of wind-impacted fires and assess the reach and effectiveness of exterior streams. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how these tools and tactics impact flow, reach, and fire suppression when it matters most.
