ALS Assist for the EMT Basic: Skills to Prepare for Career Advancement
With a nationwide shortage of paramedics, more and more EMT-Basics are looking to advance their careers and return to school to become paramedics. However, even before you go back to school, there are skills you can learn and use to assist your ALS partner, improve teamwork, provide better patient care, and prepare yourself to become a better medic. We will review National, State, and Local Advanced Scope Skills for EMT-Basics including albuterol, wound packing, IM Epinephrine, 12 Lead Acquisition, and more. By reviewing practical skills such as Flushing J-Loops and setting up for intubation, you will learn to be a more efficient team member. We will conclude with patient scenarios to help start making decisions about the most appropriate patient transportation destination.
